*squees*

I won THIS on eBay! It should be here in less than a week!

But!
Even better!

I NOW HAVE A LAPTOP!!!!!
(excuse the all caps, but um, I'm all excited and such)
It was ordered last Saturday, and should get here in less than two weeks (I checked the order status this morning, it should be here by Friday *SQUEE!*). It's a Dell, and I won't babble about what all I got put on it. Well, Hubby what did, I just nodded and agreed with him as he's the real computer person and I'm...well, I'm really not. I only know a little more than the Av-Er-Age Bear. He just wanted to make sure I was happy with it.
OF COURSE!!
I'm getting a laptop!
It's like my birthday came three weeks early, hehehe.
It has Bluetooth, so I told him what I want for my actual bday gift is a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. :-D
*runs off squeeing*

27 January 2006

My day was TOTALLY made

Short and sweet.
I could babble endlessly (or at least, for a long while) about these two cool teenage girls that are in Kidzilla's play and how they actually seem to not only like me but Seek Me Out as a Cool Adult.
DUDE. That TOTALLY ROCKS.

A cute side note: Two or three rehearsals ago one of them gave me their number and said, "If you never need a babysitter for Kidzilla, call me. She's Awesome, she totally reminds me of me at eight." Which I LOVED 'cause if Kidzilla grows up to be like her when she a teenager...wordscannotexpresshowCOOLthatwouldbe. Anyway, last night Kidzilla sidled up to me and said, "Daddy will be home from his trip tomorrow night, Mommy. You and him should go do something special together." I looked at her, wondering where this was going. "Uh, huh...?" "You know, 'cause then CoolTeenager #1 and CoolTeenager #2 could watch me." She gave a shy smile. I almost fell out of my horribly uncomfy metal folding chair with amusement and cuteness overload. I told her sorry, no, we're going to spend time together as a family. She pouted for second but then was called over to practice one of her fight scenes. CoolTeenager #2 came over and sat down with me and I told her what Kidzilla said. "Awww!" she blushed. "That's so Cute!" I grinned at her. It never hurts to let a teenager know that they're liked. :-D

Anyway, while the CoolTeenagers were hilarious and puppy-like in their enthusiasm (:-D!), what just completely made my day was figuring out why my pictures on my new camera weren't coming out like I expected. I couldn't get a clean shot of action for anything. Sure, sometimes it's cool to have blurry to show the movement, but that's not what I was wanting at all. And for the life of me I couldn't figure why most of my pics came out so bluzzy around the edges. It was DRIVING ME MAD. I knew it had to be the ISO settings (Hubby had messed with them at one point and I figured he didn't change them back), but I just hadn't had time to pull out the book and read through it and figure out how to get to them and fix it. I was sitting across from the guy playing the Professor at the time. We talked about our cameras, and the play, and I teased him about how his accent was finally becoming less Transylvanian and more British. He and I usually talk some at rehearsals, he likes my dry comic asides to things happening in scene and I like not only having someone laugh when I try to be funny but someone that's intelligent and can hold up their end of the conversation. Anyway, he was watching the kids run the scene yet again and I was fiddling with my camera. "Ah, HAH!" I quietly yelled. He almost jumped and looked at me. "I figured it out!" I crowed. I explained to him my frustrations. "Yeah, that would be very annoying," he agreed, chuckling at me. "This has TOTALLY made my whole day," I said, almost dancing in my seat. His grin got bigger and he laughed some more. I looked at him and smiled and cocked my eyebrows at him, mock stern. "It's the the little things that make me happy." And I couldn't help it and grinned 'cause that's completely true. He laughed. "Yeah, it's always the little things," he agreed.

Not for the Timid

Oh, meep.
It's already Thursday and I've not even posted since last Saturday.
I actually know what I'm going to do for HNT today, I had the idea on Monday when I was "putting on my face". I'm putting up a pic of Me for HNT.

This is me as of today:

Why post a pic of me for HNT? Because I really don't like the way I look, and I like the way I look in a photograph even less. I feel more than half nekkid posting a pic of my face.

(Ignore the slightly red eyes...I'm cruising through my day with about 4 hours of sleep.)
(And look! Lip color! I Never wear lip color!!! *gasp!* I had to though, I have an owie on my lip to cover up, lol. I picked up the lip balm last Thursday. I've been Wearing it since Saturday when I woke up with said owie on my lip. I'm told it looks good, but I think it's entirely too pink. Pink is my least favorite color, why would I want it on my Face? lol)

BAH

I have 10 minutes to be ready for work, yet the only thing I've done so far is put in my contacts.
Why am I such a BUM!?!?!?!
Oh.
Yeah.
I just HAD to write.
:-P

HAH

I read a lot of really hilarious blogs just about everyday. I LOVE to giggle, laugh, guffaw, in general carry on with much loud merriment as can possibly be gleaned from a day.
'Cause without laughter, what's the point?
Today's loudest guffaw came from going over to
LOD's to catch up on my reading. It's been a few days since I went there. Sorry, LOD, I'm an inconsistant lurker.

There's a reason why January 6 is referred to as the Epiphany; at that point, most people come to the startling revelation that there's a big dead tree in their house, and it's covered in live electrical wires.

20 January 2006

A Steak N' Shake Moment

Sis M: "My computer's dead, I have no internet...I'm back in the dark ages!"

Me, waving hands of negation: "No, no, no! You're back in the" *dramatic pause* "20th Century!!!!!" *slow motion collapsing into giggles onto the booth bench*

A Post! With Pics!

I'm planning on this being a quick update.
We'll see.
On a side note, I wonder how likely Hubby would be to quit playing WoW and go get my camera out of the car? Okay, so it's like a one in a million thing, but I'm feeling lazy, and I'm tired, and my back hurts... *quits complaining*

(I asked, and OMGoodness, he said YES!!!!! *faints*)

So, hopefully by the end of this I'll have a snow pic to post. I only took a couple (and they're two shots of the same thing) because it was dark when it started snowing yesterday (and I don't know the water resistance of my camera). Now I wish I'd taken one of one of the bushes in my front yard (the big one that blocks the view of the road when you try to leave my driveway). Even with a flash it would've been nice to have a shot of it. It was loverly. Anyway, I'll download them and see what I've got.

Let's see, when did I post last? Hmm...last Thursday. Hm. What's happened since then? I've taken literally HUNDREDS of photos. Now I need to wade through them all and delete the crap. There's a task I would love to be able to do on a laptop. Sit on the couch with a cuppa of tea and sort and delete. *wistful sigh*
Anyway...

Pics Taken Last Wednesday, the 11th

You can see Civi peeking at me through the fence. You can see Anna, but her head is down sniffing something. See the dirt? Civi's a pacer. Whenever she's out, after she's, you know, done, she paces up and down that section of fence with the gate. As soon as the grass was all dead, it was all gone.

Barren River. I wanted a shot showing the cool trees on my side and some of the bank on the other side. You can see how much higher my bank is than the other side. I'm in no danger of floods. ;-)
(I have a lot of river shots from that day, but I'll be good and only post one)

Introducing Haley! This is my friend Steph's new baby girl. Is she not wonderful? A total cutie! This is her sleeping while Kidzilla is holding her.

A few minutes later she woke up a little and yawned. Awwwww!
(I'm being good again, I have tons of baby pics!)

Pic Taken Thursday, the 12th

Kidzilla at rehearsal. She's an evil character, I'm sure we'll get to quit smiling during her line before the performances, lol. At least, maybe we could make it an evil smile.

Saturday was nice and uneventful. Sunday was good, extra busier than usual due to Kidzilla now having rehearsals on Sundays for combat. Sis M. Kidzilla and I had lunch with my friend Melissa and her hubby and son. A good time was had by all. I have pics from Sunday's rehearsal, but I'll spare you. ;-)

Monday was Hubby birthday. We slept in until Very Late (I won't say the time, to spare Lew the pain, hehehe). We played a lot of WoW and let Kidzilla do whatever she liked. She loved that, lol. We finally arsed ourselves and got ready to actually leave the house. First up was a walk at Riverwalk Park. It's a park near us that the city has been working on since we've lived here (here being our current address). They've done it in stages and just recently completed the latest section. It was nearing dark but I took my camera with me anyway. I hoped to get some good shots of the lights on the old bridge that's been made into part of the park.

A shot of a bridge from part of the newest section of walkway.

Reflection of a nearby streetlight on the river.

Rivets on the bridge. I wish I'd put something next to them for perspective. They're as big as the palm of my hand!

Kidzilla and Hubby on the bridge.

Okay, I think I've made y'all suffer enough, I'll stop with the park pics. ;-)

After our walk we went to have a bite to eat (spicy fingers from Albany's! YUM!), and then saw Narnia. I LOVE NARNIA! I want to see it again! Anyone want to come with? :-D Hubby and Kidzilla really enjoyed it too. :-D It even got Hubby choked up in parts. *sniffles*

After we came home Hubby opened his gift from Kidzilla. Kidzilla has a thing for buying him Yet Another plush thing, so she picked out a wee stuffed Rottweiler and a pillow that looks like a bar of Butterfinger (one of his favorite candies) for him. Both are Very Soft. As a very tactile person, I keep wanting to sleep with his new pillow, hehehe. He didn't want anything as he has his birthday gift sitting on his desk and has for a couple of weeks, but I think he was pleased she wanted to get him something. The gift he's already gotten himself is a 20 inch flatscreen monitor. NICE. Now I want one, lol. What he doesn't know is that I've hidden a birthday card on his desk (it's a DISASTER, he'll find it...one day), and I'm planning on getting a cake and giving him a card and another gift some time this week when I can go out and get one as a surprise. I'd make one, but he's broken and PREFERS what I call fakey cakes. You know, the ones from the bakery in, say, Kroger's with the (what I call) Crisco icing? Yeah. He prefers That over a yummy homemade cake with buttercream icing. He's BROKEN. I blame his mom. ;-) She can't cook and so that's what he got as a kid so now he thinks that's good. Poor guy, lol. I found something Really Cool at Hobby Lobby the other day I'm willing to bet he'll like. :-) So I'm going to get a cake and give him them gift. :-D A post-birthday surprise.
All in all, he spent the day exactly as he wanted, which was the whole point. :-)

Tuesday was a busy day. My second interview was that morning (which went very well, I think), and then I went to work. Then I came home and took the old washer out of the "laundry closet" and took it outside (in the rain! btw, and By MySelf). I found a shirt down behind the old washer I'd worn once and couldn't find so I'd decided I was mental and hadn't really bought it, lol. It's nice to know I'm not crazy! Then I vacuumed and cleaned it all out (even moved the dryer and cleaned behind it since I could). Not 5 minutes after all that Hubby and Scott showed up and heaved our new one in the back door and put the old one in Scott's truck to go toss it. I opened the box and took out the instructions while I waited on Hubby's return. He came home and we put it all together and finagled it where we wanted it to be. For its maiden run I put in our comforter, the biggest thing I own to wash. I LOVE MY NEW WASHER! I couldn't hear it fill, I couldn't hear it wash, and I Really couldn't hear it spin! *dance of glee* On our old one the leveling feet were messed up (had been as long as we'd owned it), and so whenever it would go through the spin cycle it would vibrate the whole house. LITERALLY. And it was So Noisy! Though I told Hubby with a laugh, "How'm I supposed to know when it's done?" hehehe
We finished this just in time for me to run out the door for my audition. By this time the rain had turned to sleet had turned to snow! Lovely!

Snow on the steeple and roof of Eastwood.

I played my Irish Tin Whistle (I played "Sally Gardens") and sang "Tell Your Story". He liked my playing enough to request right then and there that I learn a song to play! :-D I'll know the results of the singing at the end of the month. I would love to be in the women's ensemble with my friend Melissa. Our voices sound like they were made to sing together, it's so cool. :-) She was there that night too so she and I and Sis. M went out for a late dinner, and afterwards just she and I went and had coffee and talked at Starbucks until 11 (when they kicked us out, lol).

Today was a snow day for Kidzilla. She played in the snow this morning 'til there wasn't anymore to play in. It's in the 40's today so the snow didn't last long at all. I didn't take any other photos of the snow than the shot of the steeple yesterday. It was all melted before I got out of house. Oh, well, here's hoping for more snow! I've done a ton of laundry today...gee, I wonder why? lol We did the "church thing" as Hubby calls it, and now Kidzilla's in bed and it's Really Late now that I've been up typing all this! Time for sleep!

12 January 2006

Well, crap.

I had a load of blacks in the washer (yes, we have enough blacks for a load, heck, we have enough blacks for at least two loads, if not three), and I went to put them in the dryer but they still seemed really wet. So I put them on the spin cycle. The washer made a nasty "grrrrrrrrrrnk" noise, but nothing happened.
Crap.
Well, it was a big load, so, thinking perhaps I overloaded the old thing (hells bells, it was old when we bought it for 50 bucks eight years ago), I took out half and moved the knob back to the rinse/spin cycle. It started filling up with water. I took that as a good sign and walked away.
After about 5 minutes I realized that it wasn't doing anything.
Crap.
I walked over and lifted the lid. There sat the blacks. In a washer tub of water. Not moving. The occasional bubble burbling to the surface but nothing else.
Crap.
Hubby came over and fiddled with it. Nothing.
Crap.
"Well, honey, you know that money Mom sent for my birthday? She just bought us a new washer!"
CRAP.

So, this is HNT

Today is HNT, and I have to say I don't have any HNT pics for today. Maybe later. Right now the camera is in the car (along with my cell, good place for both, dontchathink?) and I don't feel like going to get it.

In lieu of HNT pics, I'm posting some of a wonderful sunset I saw on the 7th.

I this took while randomly pointing the camera out of the car window and driving at the same time. So I had no idea what the camera was pointing at, I just had it aimed in the general direction of the sunset and was hitting the shutter button. I love how this one came out even so. Very ghostly with the blurred branches and the sunset along the bottom edge.

Same exact thing as the first one. I was looking at it and Kidzilla came in and saw it and said, "Oooooh, how pretty!" I agree.

I quickly pulled off of the road as soon as there was enough free space to pull far enough off and have the car be safe. I ended up behind the airport across from the airfield from the buildings. That's our wee airport buildings and lights you see.

Same thing, just zoomed in on the darker part of the sunset.

Same thing, just towards the edge of the sunset where you can see more colors.

A far edge with pinks and purples.

I pulled all the way back on the zoom to get as broad a photo as possible (without changing my settings to panoramic, as it was I was already running late to something and my car is sitting on the side of the road running to boot, lol). This is the result.

All of these were resized to 35% of the actual image except the last one which is25%, but still larger than the rest, lol. I love my new camera! (even if I haven't gotten the hang of it yet, lol)

11 January 2006

Today I Shall

Go visit my friend Steph at the hospital. She had her baby via C-section on Monday. A beautiful baby girl. Her name is Haley. I can't wait to see her. :-D It killed me not to be there (I got to be there for her first kid's delivery), but today is the first chance I've had to go. I'm going to stop and get some pink carnations on the way. :-)

Sign up for auditioning for stuff at church. I'm checking off the Ladies Sextet box, the Solo box, and the Instrumental box (I play alto sax and I've taught myself the Irish Tin Whistle). May back out of the Instrumental box. Haven't decided. I don't have any music to play (beyond a sax playbook from school and the learner's book for the tin whistle) and no time to find something and learn it by next Tuesday. Eh. If he doesn't mind something short and easy I'll play out of the books. Really I think he just wants to know how we sound, I doubt I even get to finish the song I'm going to sing for the audition. I'm auditioning for two reasons. One being I love to sing and play. Another being as much as I love both of those things I get terribly nervous doing it in front of people and I'm hoping by putting myself out there more I'll get over it, at least enough so that when I'm singing I don't have to hold the mic in both hands to keep it still. You think I'm kidding. I just hope I don't get nervous in the audition. :-P

Go to handbell and then choir practice.

Come home, put Kidzilla to bed, play WoW (in that order, lol). I made me a Tauren Hunter last night I want to run around with and play.

A Blatant Overuse of Parentheses

Hubby was having a "I am Fat" morning this morning.
So he was crabby and complainy about everything.

He came in the kitchen so I could "fix his shirt" (which is shorthand for "Can you check my gig line? And make sure I haven't tucked in my shirt all uneven?") griping Yet Again about how "fat" he is. Which he isn't. Which isn't to say he's not a little overweight, but he's Not Fat.
I said, "You know how you hate when I complain about the same thing over and over again?" (I mentioned it 'cause he mentioned last night about how he's tired of hearing me make snarky [my word, not his, I don't think he's ever said the word snarky] comments about my hair [he likes the way it is]...I stuck my tongue out at him)
(btw, I have one thing I mention more than once. ONE. Okay, maybe two, but That's It.)
He looked at me wondering where this was going. "Yeah..."
I looked him in the eye and said "WELCOME TO MY WORLD."

10 January 2006

Hah, never mind

He's apologized.
Things are better again.
Life goes on.
And now I really Am going to bed.
I get up in 5 hours, you know. And that's if I pass out Right Now.

Mutiny, Mutiny, Mutiny

Sis M. did bring me food. It was very tasty and Very bad for me. :-D Good thing I only eat at BK about two or three time a year, lol. She hung around and ate with me and chatted. I left work at around 2 and spent the afternoon online with Sis B. Finally went to Wal-Mart (I'd been putting it off), and bought entirely too much stuff. Which always happens, lol. Came home, debated what we were having for dinner well past the point we should've been Eating it, and ate. Kidzilla is now in bed. I was going to play WoW with Hubby, but he's too crabby and called it quits after less than 5 minutes. He keeps talking over there at his computer like he wasn't just a complete butthead. I'm going to bed 'cause now I'm crabby beyond words. Yay. So much for that great mood I thought we were both in. Well, he's apparently still in it (on whatever plant he's on), but I'm not.

*rumble, rumble, rumble*

I came in early today. Which is fine. Yay for more pay! So, I didn't bring my lunch 'cause I would be able to go home and eat after work. However. I'm Not going to be getting off early like I was told I would and now I'm going to be here until 2 with no lunch. I can already feel myself getting crabby. :-P Hubby isn't in town so he can't bring me lunch.
Bah.
I want food!
Maybe I can talk Sis M. into bringing me something...

On a positive note I have an interview on Thursday at 10 with a lady that just opened a store over on Thoroughbred Square. I have no idea what they sell (I've thought about going by there and "shopping" just to see), but she needs someone to do Quickbooks and our accountant gave her my name (after asking me if she could). She wants to see if I think I'll be able to do what she needs me to do in the small amount of time I would be there. Her store opens at 10, but they get there at 9:30, so I would go in at 9:30 and leave at 11/11:15. I need to talk to my boss here about it to make sure he remembers okaying this sort of thing. He was here when our accountant asked me about it, I just want to remind him. Well, I just heard someone come in the store, I'm off!

I Liiiiiiiiiiive!

Really!
And I'm going to start blogging!
Wow!
Don't everyone clamour at once...
