Wanna buy some glass?

I've had this dream for a long time...

Blown Glass

Hand-blown glass (I have a weakness) that hopefully would be from local artists and myself. I read a book that the main character owned his own glass shop and a place in the back where he made his items where people could watch. I would Love to learn how to blow glass and do that!

Or a shop selling jewelery that I've made. Or both! :-D

Via Whoopee

I liked her answers, so I'm going to attempt my own.
Consider yourself tagged if you like.

1. Are you a male or female: I'm a girl.  I can't even say woman because I have yet to "grow up".  Mostly I just refuse to accept that staid stuff that I'm told being a "grown up" entails.  This is endearing to most, frustrating to others (you know, like my mom).  Yes, I'm in my 30's and I have a kid (she's almost 12! eep!) and Hubby and I have been married for 13 years.  Using that scale, I feel old (ish).  But it seems like "they" want you to quit enjoying life when you "grow up", and I if I have to do that, I don't wanna.

2. Describe yourself: Umm...hmm. Literally physically? Ummm...here.  Have a picture:

(try to ignore the horribly pixelated face. I know, but try anyway)
5'7", broad shoulders, and over 50% legs.
Otherwise, I feel my About Me over there on the right is pretty good for the rest of it. *points* See it? It says, "It's All About Me".  It's pretty good, but I think I should add that I am and forever will be a Band Geek, and I'm too nerdy to be normal, too silly to be a nerd (I'm more of your all-around Geek).

3. How do you feel about yourself: Meh. I wish I had more confidence in myself.  Which is amusing to say because if you ask just about anyone that knows me in RL they have no idea I lack confidence in anything (excepting my looks, I'm sure my self-deprecation on that topic is wearying to others).

4. Describe your parents: I love my mom.  Short (4'10"!), carefully curled and coiffed light brown hair, green eyes, great smile. A lot smarter than she thinks she is. We have our ups and downs, but I think most parents and children do.  My dad.  That's a bitter topic.  Moving on.

5. Describe your ex boyfriend/girlfriends: Smart, funny, amazing smile. Had loooong brown hair. Still a good friend.

6. Describe your current boy/girl situation: I'm married to a Fricking Genius (even though he doesn't think so).  He's heart-stoppingly handsome, has a beautiful smile and piercing blue eyes.  I could write poetry about his elegant, long-fingered hands.  Extremely quick-witted; one aside from him can leave me gasping for air and leaking tears.  As you can see, 13 years later and I'm still besotted.
Though I still miss his long, lustrous, black hair he had when we were dating.  *wistful sigh*

7. Describe your current location: Sitting in a squashy dark red LazEBoy that doesn't match a single thing in my home, but it was gift, and I loves me some FREE. Said recliner is in my LR in my wee lil' home here in KY.  Rolling hills, green grass, & actual Seasons.  I grew up in MS and spent 5 years living in BFE, NM. I will never take Seasons for granted.

Describe where you want to be: Same town, bigger house, and it would be nice if I could decide what I want to be when I grow up.

9. Your best friend(s) is/are: People that make me laugh.  People that I Always have something to talk about with (proper grammer can go hang *raspberry*). People who like me for who I am, silliness and all.  People that know I love goofy jokes and tell those kinds of jokes to me.  People that can keep up with me conversationally.  Sweet people.  Nice people.
Interesting people.
It's so awesome I really do have friends like this.

10. Your favourite colour is: Dark purple.  Most especially dark amethyst.  Mmmmmmm.

11. You know that: I'm awesome.  Every night as part of our good night ritual I tell my daughter she's the bestest (wording left over from when she was small) and she tells me I'm the  greatest.  And I reply, "I know.  You tell me that every day." and it still makes her giggle.  I *heart* Kidzilla! She really Is the bestest.

If your life was a television show what would it be called: "I Live in My Own Little World, but It's Okay, They Know Me Here."

13. What is life to you: Not long enough.  I have so much I want to see and do and I'm supposed to make enough money and then get to do it all before when now?!?  NOT. ENOUGH. TIME.
(which you would think means I'm all over not procrastinating. but sadly....no. I have a crown for it, because I am the Queen)

14. What is the best advice you have to give: Let it go and move on.

Oxiclean sells itself!

OxiClean by kowitz

I <3 Oxiclean! That stuff rocks my socks! I use a little in every load of laundry.
Kaboom is awesome, too! So far everything I've tried that Billy Mays sells has worked just like it says in the infomercial. Not that I've tried everything (the pancake-ball-thing makes me raise my eyebrows in doubt), but youknowwhatImean.

Hubby just bought the ShamWow, and it seems to work okay, but not As good as that fella makes it out (though he's oddly mesmerizing...). Oh, and the yellow ones smelled terrible out of the box. Two washings and the darned things still faintly smell. Bleah.

I've been tempted to buy the Snuggie just because I do love to curl up with a book on the couch under a blanket, and that sounds awesome. But it doesn't come in purple or black or orange, so the odds of my trying it are slim. ;-)

Kidzilla bugs me for Moon Sand all the time. So far that's still a solid no. :-P
I can't say anything about her being too old though, 'cause I Still like to play with Play-Doh myself and it Does looks cool... But it seems like a gimmick. No thanks.

[Plinky] Watch "Nightmare Before Christmas" next time you're home sick

I <3 NBC

This movie is cute, charming, and fun. It's my favorite movie because of the great animation, awesome music (and songs!), and delightful story.

Wow, this sounds like the beginning of a very dull book report. Sorry about that.

I love this movie! That alone is a good enough reason. ;-)

One day...

I'll post.
Really!
I've been posting in my LJ, just not here.
Sorry?
I figure one day when I have time I'll update this blog with what posts I have in LJ that aren't LJ-centric.
One day...

09 June 2006

I'm as tired as all heck

This entry was originally started on Monday at work and finished tonight (today being Thursday), my first night with internet at home. Kidzilla's computer has been up for a couple of days, and it dawned on me tonight that I could get online with my laptop since the wireless network has to be up for her computer to be online. My main PC is still in pieces, but that's okay, I can get online now! Woot!

Getting 4 hours of sleep on a "good" night several days in a row and then staying up for 37 hours straight will wear a body down.

BUT!

We're all moved!

So many annoying things happened with and having to do with the move. I have no idea if I'll get it all down as currently my computer is in pieces and I doubt it puts back together until the computer room is done (I'm updating at work whilst I wait on my boss to come and sign checks). Which Hubby has no sort of ETA for (yes, I dangle prepositions, and they hang out to dry when I'm tired), btw. I'm hoping for this week 'cause he'll be working on the new fencing this weekend. It will So Rock to have a privacy fence! You know, so I can work on my tan in peace. *much rolling of eyes and sniggering*

I will not be cooking for a while. Which, as I'm not that fond of cooking (even though I'm very good at it), you'd think I'd rejoice about, but No. For the first time in living memory I don't Want to go out to eat Yet Again, and would much rather have something at the house, BUT all my dishes and pots and pans are in storage and in the BACK OF THE UNIT. Let's all give Hubby a rousing round of applause for thinking that one through (as he's the one that packed the kitchen and put my Stuff of Life where it is now)! It's going to cost a mint to eat out everyday for every meal! ARGH. On the other hand the steak and eggs I had for brunch yesterday at O'Charley's was Delicious, so maybe it's not All bad. As an aside all my dry goods (boxed stuff, canned goods, spices...) are Also in the back with my pots and pans, so I can't even have a bowl of cereal without having to go buy all new and buying the plastic bowls and spoons to eat it with. Oh, and Hubby says I knew it was happening at the time, so I don't get to fuss and blame him. Yeah, right. Sillie man, like I would allow that to happen if I knew that's what he was doing! Ch! (to borrow a phrase ;-))

Anna and Dragon have no idea what to make of the move and so far think the garage is The place to live and are scared of the door leading into the actual house. Which is fine by me for now as the first thing Anna did when I actually let her roam the new place a little bit was was to get all excited and tinkle on my bed. I kid you not. So it'll be a while before she gets to come back in the house. :-P Dragon has explored no further than the kitchen, and the one time I took her through the house she clung to me like I'd taken her outdoors (I have a cat that is TERRIFIED to go outside, I don't even begin to exaggerate), so she's happy in her box in the garage for now. Civi wants the other two pets to get over themselves 'cause gosh it's a lot warmer out here than in the house so canIcomeinnow? However the other two act saner (more sane?) when she is out there with them (though she's currently the one that barks the most, not fond of the new noises she hears I suppose) so she'll just have to deal with it for now.

An Aside: It is not a good omen to have your boss ask you to help him put his resume on Monster.com and show him how to log in and apply for jobs. And have him apply for three right then and there. I told Hubby I keep thinking one Wednesday he's going to call me and tell me not to come in until Friday (like he did yesterday), and then on Friday call me and tell me not to bother to come in anymore at all 'cause they've decided to close the store. So, as you can guess, moving to a new location did not have quite the revitalizing effect on the business that was hoped. Le Sigh. Though he did call me today and ask me to come in early (10 instead of noon) because he had a bunch of sales and wants me to come in early so he can write some checks before he leaves for the weekend (at 12:30). So I won't be getting that Don't Bother Call this week, but as for next week, who knows? At least I know who to call if this place does go belly up. :-P Actually I have a couple of places I can call, which is nice. Apparently my name gets passed around as someone that can do what I do well, only to discover my current boss doesn't really want to share (even though I only work part-time, he likes being able to call me in any day he likes instead of working around other people's schedule).

Which reminds me, the lady that watches Kidzilla while I'm work is very very ill and might have to go to the ER tonight/tomorrow morning. I could care less about the inconvenience about having to figure what to do with Kidizilla while I'm at work tomorrow, I just hope she's okay. I'm not sure what's wrong as it was her 15 year old daughter that called me to let me know and I was out walking the dogs at the time and Anna had just decided to slip out of her collar (yay.) and so instead of peppering her with questions as was my wont I had to just say, "Thanks for letting me know, tell her I hope she's okay," (yes, that didn't come out the way I meant *sigh*) "talk at you later bye." Rawrgh. At the very least I'll call tomorrow afternoon and I'll drop her a card in the mail (which, if I get it in the mail early enough she'll get on Saturday). Poor thing. :-(
I've decided that Kidzilla will be going to her old daycare tomorrow. Which she will LOVE if Laura is working, so all's well that ends well. In that area, anyway.

Happy Friday! (which it is, technically, lol) No, really! TGIF!

Mosquitoes Love Me

It's a scientific fact that mosquitoes prefer some people over others. I am one of those people. Hubby and Kidzilla are not. Of course. I wondered when it would start this year (the mosquito attack) and it started Saturday. Oh, goody. I only got a couple of bites (I wasn't wearing any Off!-type stuff), but they found me, and I was bitten.

As I live across the street from a river the critters are quite a bit worse here than most of BG. I went out yesterday to spray my rose bush that has been completely denuded by some sort of bug eating the leaves. I'll be lucky if it blooms at all this year, doggone bug. Anyway, I was just out long enough to spray the rose bush and dump the remainder in the pots in front of the front porch on the ground just to make sure I didn't have any ant colonies in them. And got one heck of a bite. Of course.

Mosquito bites (on me) usually itch like mad, I put Lanacane on them, and then they go down to little red bumps that don't usually bother me again. The one I got yesterday? A huge, itchy Lump. I woke up to a knot on my forearm that itched like Mad and was as big around as a half-dollar, and as tall as a stack of 3 or 4 of them. I put some Lanacane on it and now it's just as big as a stack of 2 or 3 quarters and only somewhat itchy.

This is my official notice that summer is nigh in BG.

It is That Day of the month

The first day of Those Days where all women everywhere sing the praises of Eve.
Or not.
At least it's be over on Thursday, and I'll be back to my normal self tomorrow. I haven't been Me since Saturday evening. I think that's the part I dislike the most. Not being me for almost three days out of every 28. I really don't like being crabby and fussy and migraine-y. At least when it's "just" a migraine I can take meds (Huzzah for Modern Pharmaceuticals!) and be me again, but for now meds don't help the migraine enough to make it worth a hoot and even if they did I'd still be grumpy.
*grumps*

Maybe I'm the only one

But surely I'm Not the only one that thinks that Simply Orange is God's Gift to Juice Drinkers Everywhere?
After all, we can't be arsed to squeeze the oranges ourselves! Can you imagine how many oranges I'd have to keep on hand to have my daily 12 to 16 oz glass of OJ?
Oh, the INSANITY!!!

*squees, flails, wibbles*

THEY ACCEPTED OUR BID!!!!!

We go tomorrow morning at 9:30 to sign the paperwork, and then it's up to the mortgage people how quickly we can get this through.
I can't believe it! They took the bid! At $3500 below asking!
*bouncing in seat*
We got it! We're homeowners!
Ahhhhhh!
(I think I'm gonna need a tissue)
Our realtor called me not 10 minutes after I got home and let me know. She was all indifferent sounding so I thought she was about to tell me they didn't take it, but they did! So then I call Hubby! He's more nervous than excited, lol, but he said, "They did? They DID? Our first offer? They DID?!?" lol And then I called Sis B., who was on the phone with Sis K., so I told she could tell her! :-D Then I called my Mom! She's so excited for us, "The first of my girls to own a home! How exciting!" And then I called Sis M.! She was finally home from her appointments this afternoon, and so I babbled at her for a while. And now I'm posting! :-D

A House!

This morning Hubby and I went to look at a house.
This House, in fact:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The owners weren't there, just us, the real estate agent, and their super cute Boston Terrier. His name is Chopper. Isn't that a great name for a dog?
It's small (no bigger in square footage than where we are now, really, and the yard is soverysmall), but we really like the layout (very well set up, great space utilization), and it's in a really Great location (walking distance to Kidzilla's new school, not far from town, nice neighborhood, we're on a cul-de-sac...Kidzilla can finally go bike riding! I can take the dogs on walks! YAY!). So, we put in a bid. Yes, on the first house we looked at the interior, lol. We both realize what a great deal this is because of its location. Houses sell like hotcakes in this subdivision (this one has only been on the market for four days). We really like Where it is. Yes, it's smaller than we were orginally thinking, but the houses in our range with the size we want are older houses that obviously need work (and that's just from what we can see from the outside, scary), and are on scarily narrow roads. We almost got hit driving on the road one of the houses we went to look at yesterday is on. *shudder* Anyway, so we put in a bid, and hopefully we'll hear something this afternoon! Yes, that early! I can hope!

A Bad Sign

Greg: How much is gas runnin' here in BG?
Me: Oh, dunno, last night it was two eighty-three. Why?
Greg: It's only two seventy-two in O'boro. I wonder why it's so different?
Me: Good Grief! I have no idea.

I heard him tell a guy in the store later about it and the guy said, "Wow, that's a great price!"

NO, IT IS NOT.
See, this were people get suckered in! Gas prices are so high that when they do go down it feels like a good price because of how high it was before, BUT IT'S NOT!
Sure, $2.72 is cheaper than $2.83, but it's still Not A Good Price!
Gah! The masses are easily brainwashed!

A Loan, and a (possible) House

We were approved for a loan yesterday! We can't afford what we want (yet), but we got approved for what we could. We both know this is just going to be a starter house for us, but I'm very okay with that. I want to get out of the renting game and start building equity. It's so cool to be able to start looking (if a little bit scary).
Though I spent so much time yesterday online and looking at this thick real estate book the lady at the mortgage place gave me I gave myself a headache. :-P There is just So Much out there to look at and investigate! So, last night while we were driving around looking I asked Hubby if he wanted for me to call one of the people I know that sells real estate and he said, "YES." lol
I know several people at church that do, but this morning I decided to use my friend Susie's real estate lady instead (no worries, Brett, she's CB, lol). I'd hate to offend anyone I know personally by using them over someone else, and besides, Susie told me that Lesli is no nonsense and will tell me like it is, and that's exactly what I want. No beating around the bush. So I talked to her this morning and the first thing I asked her, I asked straight up, "Can we afford a house in the area where we want to live?" She said she would look around for me and not even half an hour after I got to work (I talked to her on my way in) she emailed me with a small starter list to look at. And I really like two of them! Woot!
I'm hoping to look at one of them this afternoon and if it doesn't work for me, I'll see about looking at the other. Even though my first choice is in a subdivision (which we didn't really want), it's in a nice neighborhood, not too far out (which, with gas prices being the way they are, is a good thing), and is less than 10 years old. My only worry is that it'll be too small, and I have to say that the lot is teeny, but that might be okay. I'll just have to look at it to know for sure. :-) Wish me luck!

ERK

Our dream house is up for sale!!!!!
We've both loved this house since we first saw it 5 years ago.
We went driving Friday night down the road it's on just for kicks to see if anything is for sale our there (it's the area of town we really want to live in) and, lo and behold, THE house is for sale!
Hubby said, "It's kizmet-y, the house being for sale the exact same time we're looking to buy."
It's listed on the website for $49,000 more than we were planning on spending, but both of us want to at least try and see if we can get it.
Everytime I think about it, I offer up two prayers: one that we can get it, and another that I'll relax 'cause I'm stressing and my ulcer is doing the watoosie.
A very bad, unrealistic part of me keeps thinking of it as "our" house. Oh, but wouldn't that be so awesome?!?

28 April 2006

Hm.

Hubby asked me today if in a couple of years (or less, I'm sure) would I want to get a full-time job. I know what he's thinking, he's thinking about how both of us working full-time would help money-wise. And he's right, but that brings up an unpleasant point. If I did, then I would be a full-time bookkeeper-type person, and doing it more than I do now is a brain-melting idea. I want to Love my job, not do it 'cause I have to. I know a lot people have jobs they hate and they Have to, but if I don't, should I make myself? What about college? I never have gone and I guess part of me would still like to. But what would I do? I can't major in what I Want because both of the majors I would choose would need to be my Life, and I have a kid and a Life already, I can't dedicate myself like that to either one. I don't want to settle either. I've never been good at that. I just don't know. I don't want to be a bookkeeper/secretary type. It's not my cuppa, no offense to those it suits.
I wanted to be a vet, and just not a vet assistant.
I wanted to be a music teacher. I couldn't be just an assistant to that one, because the college kids that are trying to be music teachers are those.
I did Not want to be a bookkeeper to a small retail store dealing with mistakes from two years ago and a boss that, while nice, can be rather pestersome.
I guess I'm just feeling discouraged. Too many interests, too little time to give to pursue them.

27 April 2006

Validation!

The accountant just came in and told me that I've been correcting the books, well, correctly.
Which is Very Nice to hear, and it's nice to hear him tell my boss that I've been "very smart" in how I've been going about doing it.
I'm still slogging through knee-deep mud, but at least now it has some pretty glitter on the top of it.

At least it's not waist-deep like it was. Whew. Talk about a workout.

26 April 2006

The week was Spring Break

The title of my entry WAS "This week is Spring Break" but Spring Break was the first week of April, and I think we can safely say that it's passed. You know, since it's almost May.
*sigh*
It's been one of those kinds of months at work. You know, where I spend 5 or 6 hours straight working on a computer that when I come home the last thing I want to do is sit down at another one and type some more. What I've been fixing is the first 7 months of the books for the store I'm the bookkeeper for. Why? Because the woman that did them ALL WRONG. Well, she did the inventory all wrong, and as a retail business that sells stuff, that's kind of a big issue. I could go into the NIGHTMARE, but I won't. I have to deal with it enough at work, I don't want to feel that I-want-to-tear-out-my-hair-and-then-go-strangle-her feeling at home. Let's just say it's aggravating and let it go.

April 3-7

Hubby took the week off and so did I. Niiiiice.

Monday: Instead of being veggie-tables, we slept in a bit and then finished moving Sis M. She was at work, so it was just Hubby, Kidzilla, and myself. Which Hubby did NOT LIKE. We got the truck, went to her old apartment and loaded it with what was left that she couldn't fit in her truck or my van (i.e. the appliances and bookshelves and desks...etc.). And remember it's just the two of us. Kidzilla got to carry small stuff left lying around to the van. I'm sure she was thrilled. Then we went to her New apartment and unloaded what was supposed to stay there. This wouldn't be a big deal if she wasn't in a walk-up. So, we had to CARRY up her dishwasher (full of dishes I might add), a large and small bookshelf, two boxes too heavy to lift, her clothes hamper that had been used as an extra box, her computer desk, and the small desk she uses to sew on. We had a dolly, but it was only good for the two boxes too heavy to lift ('cause we could stack them on it), and the dishwasher (which Hubby pulled and I pushed up the stairs) because the rest of the stuff was either too tall or too awkward to bother with using it. Of course, the back entrance was blocked by cars so we had to take the dishwasher, boxes, clothes hamper, and bookshelves up a nearby alley, around to the front entrance, and Then up the stairs. The rest we could manage to carry up the back steps. After all this we went to her new storage unit and unloaded the rest (table, couple of chairs, various lawn items, two rolling trash cans, stove, fridge, another bookshelf...you get the idea). Sis M. was finally off of work at this point and joined us there. After we finished unloading it all we got a little gas for the truck (the needle had barely moved from where it was when we picked it up, but better safe than sorry), dropped off the U-Haul at the after hours drop-off and went home. This was Such a fun way to spend the first day of vacation. This is also EXTREMELY condensed. I'm leaving out the drama. Lots of drama. Yay. 'Cause we all know how much I Love drama. :-P

Tuesday: This was a Great Day. This was one of our Mammoth Cave days. We slept in, got up, had some food and got on the road. When we arrived we bought tickets for the
Frozen Niagara Tour. We were early so we walked the trails a bit before going down to meet the bus that takes people to where the tour starts. Walking the trails (which are worth going for on their own, the park has so Awesome trails) seemed like a good idea at the time. We were early, we love hiking...only, we're Really Out of Shape, and, unless I'm mistaken, we chose one of the steepest trails to do. It wasn't the going down, it was the coming back up that was hard. So it wasn't as great an idea as it seemed at the time. Ah, well. We made it with a little time to spare and listened to the ranger for a few minutes before getting on the bus. Then we walked to the cave entrance, and listened to the ranger Some More. BTW, the tour we were on has around 550 stairs so of course three different families brought little kids with them. There were three kids under the age of three and one looked like he started walking last month. The ranger had this look of, "Oh, this is going to be FUN" on. Yeah, I agreed. We did what we always do and stayed back so we were at the back of the group. We like that because we can take more time to look at stuff without feeling like we're holding up the group (and the ranger in the back of the group never cares and loves when we [okay, I] ask questions) and we don't have to deal with People. You know, 'cause People are annoying. ;-) It was an awesome tour, Very Beautiful, and I was good and only took 85 pictures the whole day. The ranger mentioned before going in that while it's nice to have a camera that can hold a hundred pictures (or in my case 600-800), you don't have actually take 100. And as you have to stop to take each one, it holds up the line, so Please Don't take 100 pictures. Well, I was at the back of the line see, and well, I didn't take NEARLY all the pics I wanted! So, I was good. Yay me! I have some great shots of the inside of the cave (have I mentioned before how much I LOVELOVELOVE the "indoor" setting on my camera?) and some really great ones from hiking. We left MC after that, picked up some KFC on the way home and vegged for the rest of the day.

Wednesday: A veggie-table day. Mostly for Hubby since he so rarely gets time off. He suggested it and I agreed because I felt he deserved a day of not having to do anything at all for any reason. :-) So he played WoW almost all day, lol. I actually didn't spend a lot of time on the computer at all. I let Kidzilla play a Star Wars game most of the morning (she's supposed to be grounded from computer time, but come on! it's vacation!) and then I cleaned up around the house a bit and she supposedly did cleaning type stuff in her room (but I think she just moved some stuff around :-P). She and I went to churchy-church and came home late as I'd forgotten about a special rehearsal we had for the Easter Musical. So we finally came home around 9:30ish and I made dinner. Taco Salad! Yum! I think I ate an entire avocado on my own. I LOVE avocados! :-D

Thursday: Ah, a day of sleeping. Again. Then we got up and got ready to go out (have I mentioned how nice it is to have a kid that will sleep in until 9? and then get herself a wee bowl of cereal and not wake me up until noon? I have the most amazingest kid!), and then Hubby and I took Kidzilla over to a friend's house (the mom is my friend and Kidzilla loves to play with her daughters) and went and caught a movie. We saw V, which he'd seen already and I hadn't. I'd read the book already, and I have to say I like the movie more than the book. There was only one thing that wasn't in the movie that was in the book that I wished had been, but it was a small detail and didn't take away from the story at all. What a hankie movie. Definitely buying it when it comes out on DVD. :-D Then we ran a couple of errands, ran and got Hubby some Jimmy John's, and we went by the house. He stayed there and I went and got Kidzilla as it was time for ballet. After ballet was our weekly dinner at Cracker Barrel with Sis M., and then home and bed for Kidzilla and vegging for me. Another nice day. :-)

Friday: Another drive to Mammoth Cave after we finally got up and had some food. :-) It was raining cats and dogs on the drive, which we thought was great 'cause we figured that would mean less people. How wrong we were! As we drove up the last of the drive to the Visitor's Center it started to hail. Okay, so it was more than just raining, but we Love that kind of weather. Hubby pulled as close as he could and Kidzilla and I ran for it. Not two steps from shelter I get beaned in the head with hail. Just one, but it was a big 'um, and it HURT, even through my hat. I had a bruise! Just thinking about it makes my head twinge there again in memory, lol. We go in, and find out that they're not selling tickets because of a tornado warning/watch thing. Oh, great. I turn around and try to leave the ticket area so we can find Hubby but they won't let me leave the room. ?!?!?! I was SO ANGRY. My husband is out in that mess, and then he'll walk in to a Mass of people not knowing where the heck we are, and I'm supposed to just "stay put". I came very close to slapping the man for not letting me find him. I know he was just doing his job, but I was obviously worried about my husband. There was no need to be brusque and rude and almost condescending to me. Give it up, old dude. You're just a park ranger. I clenched my fists instead and Kidzilla and I went to the front of the room where they sell the tickets and I leaned against the counter waiting (occasionally rubbing the welt under my hat). They were herding Everyone into that room, and not letting anyone leave. Joy. A mob of jabbering, damp people crowded into one room. Hubby is supposed to find me HOW? Anyway, he came in and found us and we stood there listening to old ranger dude go on and on about the weather.
One thing that killed me. These ranger types have obviously never studied or thought about mob rule. You have a room crammed with wet, nervous people (well, 90% of them were, Hubby and I and the rest of Kentuckians that were there are used this sort of thing, and just rolled our eyes at it all), so the last thing you should do is amp up the tension. So what do they do? Set all the computer monitors to a weather thing that tells everyone that can see it all about the terrible weather. Oh, good. Let's make them even More jittery!
Fabulous.
So, this being KY, this all blew over in about 10-20 minutes and they reopened the tours and the ticket lines. And as we were right there at the counter, we found out that the tour we wanted was sold out. In fact ALL the tours were sold out except for one we did already a couple of years ago. I find this out and then find out that we could've made reservations for tickets. Which we didn't know 'cause the web site didn't mention this. So the
tour we wanted to go on was sold out long before. Figures. Ah, well, we know for next time. By this time the rain and hail had gone down to a drizzle, so we went hiking on the trails. We went a different way, much longer this time since we didn't have to be back for a tour. And, since I'd left the camera in the car because of the rain, of course I saw a ton of things I wanted to photograph, lol. Well, I always do, but this time we saw a small herd (4) of white-tailed deer! They let us get So Close! It was amazing, so of course no camera, lol. It was a great walk in spite of the dripping and occasionally light shower. We had a lot of fun just spending time together walking. Of course we were totally pooped when get finally left the trails after three hours, but none of us minded. We came back to BG, grabbed something to eat on the home, and called it a day.

A long post and this is just Spring Break week! But I wanted to get it all down before I forgot it all, lol, I know me. I have plans to post pics, but who knows when that'll happen. Again, I know me. ;-)

Pointless

I am currently so upset about something my heart is pounding and there is a physical ache right behind my breastbone.
I'm done crying, just left with hurt and a state of bewilderment.

No, I don't want to talk about it.

Sorry.

Just.

No.

*sigh*

I Paraphrase

(because I have a crappy memory, you know)
"If I had it all to do again, even knowing how little time I would have with her, I would. That's what love is, Sam."
- Jacob to Sam, Stargate SG-1

I feel like looking up the exact words so I can print it up and put it on my wall.

"If I had it all to do again, even knowing how hard it would be, I would."
- Me

I told my mom on Saturday something I'd told Hubby a few weeks ago. That when Hubby and I got married at 18 we thought we knew what love was. We didn't (we were 18! what did we know?) but we thought we did. But now, 10 years later, we do, and we love each other more and more as time passes. It's such a great feeling to fall more and more in love with my husband. We've both grown up and changed, but I like to think that over the years we're bringing out the best in each other. It's hard to tell sometimes where he starts and I begin. And I love that.
